Foundation Workshops

Foundation Workshops to help introduce and embed core principles and techniques

Our engaging Foundation Workshop sessions help your team learn and apply Team Topologies effectively

Team Topologies Foundation Workshops provide an ideal way to learn Team Topologies ideas and patterns within any organization. Devised and validated by the authors of Team Topologies, Matthew Skelton and Manuel Pais, the Foundation Workshops bring the core principles from the book to life by helping your team understand them in the context of your own organization.

The Foundation Workshops are more than just training. Facilitated by a minimum of two experienced Team Topologies Valued Practitioners (TTVPs) who are able to respond to direct questions and provide expert insights throughout the sessions. These workshops have been designed to help generate aha moments for the participants, which are often essential to learning and adopting new ways of working. All foundation workshops have been created to achieve a transformative group learning experience to help people discover patterns and principles by applying Team Topologies ideas in a group setting within their current work context.

Impactful learning

The Foundation Workshop sessions from Team Topologies are for up to 15 people (to maximize engagement). The sessions use timeboxed focus on specific topics to help attendees learn and reason about new ways of thinking and techniques to apply in their current situation. Attendees are guided toward new perspectives and ways of thinking based on Team Topologies, ideas, patterns, and techniques.

The content of the workshops varies but attendees will typically use a shared canvas (in Miro) to explore each topic area and uncover how it applies in their current context. The experienced facilitators are on hand throughout the workshop to guide and answer context-specific questions. Towards the end of the session(s), attendees are asked to reflect on their new awareness and define some new actions based on the material shared in the workshop.

Engagement model and delivery

The Foundation Workshops from Team Topologies are delivered by Team Topologies trusted partners, including a small circle of Team Topologies Valued Practitioners (TTVP), and some accredited Team Topologies Learning Partners (TTLP).

Each workshop is designed to be run as two 3-hour sessions so that they can be run in a single day or across two days.

All sessions are delivered over video call using Miro as the shared canvas. Video call technology options are: Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet.
